If an injectable GLP-1 medicine arrives warm, the FDA advises not using it (chapter 18). Contact the pharmacy that sent it.

Before you travel

Checked the storage conditions above against the length of the trip. Enough medicine for the trip, and asked my pharmacist what to do if I am delayed. Kept in its original packaging, with the pharmacy label. Checked the current airport security rules for medicines and needles at tsa.gov. Asked my prescriber or pharmacist how to time doses if I cross time zones. Packed a travel sharps container if I use needles.

Disposal

Used needles and pens go in a sharps container, not the household trash (chapter 7). Checked my local rules on the FDA’s safe sharps disposal page, which the liraglutide instructions point to (chapter 7).
